Information at your fingertips

GS1net™ is the Australasian component of GS1’s Global Data Synchronisation Network or GDSN. It enables organisations to cooperate in setting up and maintaining electronic catalogues of product data. Various GS1net applications contain detailed information on thousands of products in particular sectors. In New Zealand the sectors that are currently using GS1net are grocery, hardware, rural retail, and office suppliers. GS1net provides details on a product’s core attributes including pack sizes, dimensions, pricing, and marketing information.

Accuracy means efficiency

GS1net delivers huge benefits to supply chain participants who have simultaneous access to the same, accurate information.  This enables freight forwarders, for example, to know the exact dimensions and weight of a product for which they will have custody. An organisation’s marketing personnel can know the key consumer benefits and pricing considerations on the product and so on.

Key benefits of GS1net include:

  • Less ordering mistakes
  • Consistent stock levels – no excess or ‘out of stock’ situations.
  • Improved product scanning rates
  • Reduced reconciliation costs
  • More consistent pricing
  • Less incorrect and rejected deliveries
  • Better space management in warehousing and logistics carriers
  • Reduced supply chain costs - for supplier and buyer, e.g. retailers

Taking care of business

GS1 works closely with our members to help them improve and maintain data accuracy. Some major retailers in Australasia now require their suppliers to use GS1net. We can help implement GS1net and the supporting standards into your organisation.

Please note you will need to sign up to a GS1net implementation service to implement GS1net with your trading partner.  Read more about our GS1net implementation services. Plus our GS1net Tools and Resources can help you become GS1net ready.

Are you GS1net Ready?

The GS1net Ready process is a very important step on the journey to synchronising your product data with your trading partners. Below you will find a presentation that outlines the process to being granted GS1net Ready for your customer. Also you will find a checklist that details key components that we will need to confirm have been completed prior to requesting from GS1 NZ to become GS1net Ready. You will need to complete this GS1net Ready step for each customer you wish to synchronise data with using GS1net.
